Our story begins in 2016 when one woman, her husband and their two children decided to move to Richmond, ME. The supportive family packed up everything and followed her along the journey of a lifetime.

A journey of creating a magical location for children to be respected, appreciated and cherished. A place where their play is respected as learning and their days would be filled with wonder. Sunflower Fields Preschool was born.

The location would move twice, Mrs. Skelton would give birth to their daughter Winnie and the world would absolutely turn upside down before they finally landed in their forever home.

A beautiful little blue building with a bright orange door, a babbling creek and all the trees you could desire. The perfect place to grow and learn.

Inspired by Loris Malaguzzi's, Reggio Emilia Approach our preschool offers a student centered environment that is intentionally tailored to meet the developmental needs of our students. At Sunflower Fields our students are viewed as the conductors of their educational journey and the teachers are constructors, together we create wonder and magic.

"The best teachers are those who show you where to look, but do not tell you what to see."- Alexandra K. Trenfor

We spend endless amounts of time curating the perfect learning environment, observing and engaging with our students to discover their learning interests, their needs and areas for growth opportunities. Our students are at the center of everything we do.

"I care way more about your child(ren)'s ability to emotionally navigate the world outside of these walls, then I do about if they know their A,  B, C's and 1, 2, 3's. I care about their ability to process disappointment, hurt, sadness. I care about their ability to speak up for themselves and their community.

Through play they will develop an interest in the math, writing and reading. Naturally creating a more lasting and beautiful relationship with those subjects. For right now, let's learn how to be a human."
